A real skater fight

Once upon a time in Woodhaven, MI (where i used to live) me and a couple of my friends went to a smaller scale skate park that was labeled SKATE AT YOUR OWN RISK. If i had known what was going to end up happening then we probably wouldn't have ventured to the skate park that day. Anyways me and a couple friends departed on a Saturday morning at about ten. Once we got there we played a quick game of SKATE (a skate version of HORSE in basketball). That went well, I don't remember who had won, but then we see a bunch of people walking up to the park. At the time we didn't think much of it and just kept skating and screwing around. Eventually the three guys get to the park and start pushing around. I get thirsty and I call to my friend Vincent, or "Vince" as we called him, and asked him if he wanted to get a drink at the machine that was situated next to the staff building by the pier. One of the other guys looked up from the top of the pipe(quarter pipe) and said "hey, nice shoes (name that's derogatory for a homosexual and starts with an F)." Let me tell you right now I never got that drink haha. I ran after Vince because he bolted in that guy's direction. He made his way to the top of the pipe and told the kid to repeat what he had said. Apparently the kid thought he was all tough as he stepped closer and repeated it. I'm standing there thinking that if he knew Vince he would shut up and walk away. Before the kid could get to the last word to finish the sentence, Vince cocks back and blasts the kid in the side of the head with a concrete punch and he falls backwards hitting his head on the coping of the quarter pipe(metal tube used for stalls and lip slides, google it if you want to see what I'm talking about) and then slides the rest of the way down the ramp. He realized what had happened and he looked at me. I was looking at the two other guys who kept their distance. They ran over to him and tried to move him out of the way; Vince looked at me and said that we should probably go to the Southgate skate park which wasn't very far from that one. So we left without saying goodbye to the other two guys who were frantically threatening us. We had a good time that day and I honestly to this day dont know if that kid had been hospitalized or just got back up and shook it off like most skaters do. Either way we had a good day. I'm not sure if that was the most productive way to handle the situation but I doubt that Ill forget what happened that day anytime soon.

  1. Interesting day to say the least! I enjoyed learning some new skate terms, too. Is the only lesson you learned was to skate at your own risk at that park?

    Good post. 20/20 points.

  2. My favorite part: "So we left without saying goodbye".
